WHAT DID YOU DO BEFORE JOINING BLACKLIDGE?
Before joining Blacklidge, I served in the Army and was the Deputy Chief Pentagon Support Group for the National Reconnaissance Office at the Pentagon. While in the Army, I rose through the ranks and finished my Doctorate in Business Administration and earned three master’s degrees. Prior to the military, I worked in retail and opened big box stores for Office Max, Office Depot and Best Buy. I opened the first Best Buy in Mississippi.
WHAT IS YOUR PLAN TO LEAD BLACKLIDGE FORWARD?
The leadership team and I are identifying the best ways to move Blacklidge to the next level. I bring a fresh set of eyes and unique experience to the team. We have some great people here at Blacklidge. They all want to do well. They all want to succeed. My job is to provide everyone with what they need to succeed while holding each other accountable.
HOW DOES ALL OF YOUR EXPERIENCE TRANSLATE TO THE ASPHALT INDUSTRY?
I managed a petroleum pipeline company while I was in the military. It is the same concept as what we do here at Blacklidge. We had fuel farms, delivered products, had chemists that worked on the mixture of fuels and more. We deployed and then we set up a “mobile gas station.” We would get fuel to the people who needed it, sometimes under fire. In business, you’re always under fire from competitors. I believe Blacklidge has the right people to lead the charge.
WHAT ARE YOU MOST EXCITED ABOUT HERE AT BLACKLIDGE?
It’s the people. It’s been so heartwarming how everybody has accepted me. But it’s also how they want to see Blacklidge move to the next level and how much they love this organization.
